HISTORY OF THE PHILIPPI LUTHERAN CONGREGATION
The church building was dedicated on the 14
November 1897. Until 1901 it was a preaching post of the St Martini
Congregation in Cape Town. Thereafter it became an independant
congregtion. The first Pastor was Pastor Baumgarten. The bell was
intalled in 1904 and the present organ in 1926.
At present the congregation consists of 420
members. Services are held in Afrikaans every Sunday at 9.30 a.m. A service in
English is held on the fourth Sunday in the month at 6.30 p.m.
